Doctor Who Nails L-R: The TARDIS, The Logo, Bow Tie, Silence Marks, The Vortex

You can chose to do all or just one of these nails, as I will be showing you how to do the individual nails :)

The TARDIS
Okay so let's start with The Doctor's Trusty Time Machine - The TARDIS (stands for Time and Relative Dimentions in Space :).

TARDIS Nail Art

What You Will Need:
  • A Base Coat and a Top Coat (Base Coat:I used Collection 2000's Nail Care, Nail Bright and instant whitener for a natural finish, Top Coat: I used Miss Sporty's Disco Tech Nail Polish)
  • Blue Nail Polish (I used Rimmel London's I Lasting Finish Nail Polish in Azure)
  • Black Nail Polish ( I used Miss Sporty's Lasting Colour Nail Polish in Fatal Black)
  • White Nail Polish (I used Color Workshop's Nail Polish In French White)
  • A Nail Dotting Tool or a Cocktail Stick
  • Nail Polish Remover
  • A Cotton Pad

How To:
  • Firstly apply a base coat. This helps to protect your nails from staining and keeps them looking healthy and strengthens them, depending on which base coat you use. (I used Collection 2000's Nail Care, Nail Bright and instant whitener for a natural finish, this stuff is amazing and I highly recommend it :).
  • Once that is DRY take a white nail polish and paint the whole nail, you may need to use two coats of the polish.
  • When the white has dried take your blue nail polish and place a small amount on your work surface (this needs to be something that you can easily clean nail polish off, A plain white Sheet of paper will work fine aswell). Take your small nail dotting tool/cocktail stick and create an out line of the TARDIS. Then take the applicator of the nail polish and fill in the outline.
  • When your TARDIS has dried, clean the small nail dotting tool with some nail polish remover and a cotton pad (you dont need tons of cotton pads for the cleaning you'll just need one :). Now take a black nail polish and place a small amount on your work surface, then take your nail dotting tool and out line the Blue to define the shape a little bit more. Also use this to create a line down the middle of the shape and some little squares as well.
  • Clean the dotting tool again, then take the white nail polish that you used before. Put a small amount on your work surface. Taking the white you want to put a dot on the light, and then fill in the top two squares and one square on the left-hand side of the line.
  • Leave this to dry fully before applying a top coat to prevent smudging your design. And that's it your DONE!.
The DW Logo
Moving on to the next nail (you can choose to do just one of these if you want to) and its the Logo. I chose to re-create the newer Doctor who logo, mainly because it was a little bit easier than the older ones (and some of them wouldn't fit on my nail :/ ).

The Logo Nail Art

What You Will Need:
  • A Base Coat and a Top Coat (Base Coat:I used Collection 2000's Nail Care, Nail Bright and instant whitener for a natural finish, Top Coat: I used Miss Sporty's Disco Tech Nail Polish)
  • Blue Nail Polish (I used Rimmel London's I ♥ Lasting Finish Nail Polish in Azure)

How To:
  • Okay so to create this nifty little design, you'll first of all want to apply a base coat to prevent staining and to keep your nails healthly and strong (again depending on what base coat you use).
  • Next take a White nail polish and paint the whole nail, you'll probably need to apply two coats of this to get that nice opaque colour. This is going to act either as a background or a double barrier.
  • Now take a Blue nail polish and place a small amount on your easy-to-clean work surface, A plain white Sheet of paper will work fine aswell. The Doctor has a sonic screwdriver, we have nail dotting tools, so chose a small ended nail dotting tool and begin to create a Hexagon (ooh getting technical now) or a 6-sided shape, this can take up  the whole nail, or if you want the white showing through, just a little bit of the nail. Don't forget to fill the shape in.
  • Clean the nail dotting tool with some nail polish remover and a cotton pad before going ahead with the next step.
  • Once you've done that, take your black nail polish and place a small amount on your work surface. Take your nail dotting tool and out line the blue (this just helps to define the shape). Now create a line down the middle of the Hexagon. On the Left hand side of the line, create a small line in the middle of the side (as show in the above picture) and on the right hand side of the line, create two small lines attached to the top of the shape (its all in the picture).
  • Wait for your design to fully dry, then apply a top coat and vous avez terminé! (and that is your proper french, well according to google translate it is) (Translation: You're Done!!)

    Bow Tie
BOW TIES ARE COOL!!! Along With Fezzes and Stetsons (well according to the 11th Doctor they are). The one thing you never see the 11th Doctor with out is his Bow Tie (With the Exception of 'The 11th Hour' in which he has just regenerated and is still wearing the 1oth Doctors outfit and 'The Snowmen' in which he is wearing a ascot or cravat or whatever you want to call it. It's scarf like we'll leave it at that).

Bow Tie Nail Art
What You Will Need:

  • A Base Coat and a Top Coat (Base Coat:I used Collection 2000's Nail Care, Nail Bright and instant whitener for a natural finish, Top Coat: I used Miss Sporty's Disco Tech Nail Polish)
  • Red Nail Polish (I used Rimmel London's 60 Seconds Nail Polish in Red Carpet)
  • Black Nail Polish ( I used Miss Sporty's Lasting Colour Nail Polish in Fatal Black)
  • White Nail Polish (I used Color Workshop's Nail Polish In French White)
  • A Nail Dotting Tool or a Cocktail Stick
  • Nail Polish Remover
  • A Cotton Pad
A Closer look at the Bow Tie Nail Art
How To:
  • Okay so we gotta keep them nails protected and healthly so apply a base coat, to prevent the nail polish from staining them and turning them a horrible, nasty yellow colour (it's not pretty believe me).
  • Once your base coast has dried, apply two coats of white nail polish to get a nice opaque effect.
  • Take your Red Nail Polish ( or any colour you choose, but the 11th Doctor mainly keeps to red and blue bow ties) and apply a small amount to you easy-to-clean work surface (No seriously it needs to be easy to clean otherwise your parents may be mad and you don't want that. A plain white Sheet of paper will work fine aswell). Take a small nail dotting tool and create the out line for the Bow tie, then fill in the out line (you can use the nail polish applicator or the nail dotting tool/cocktail stick).
  • Clean the nail dotting tool or if your using a cocktail stick then use the other end. Apply a small amout of black nail polish to your work surface. Use the black to outline the bow tie as shown in the picture above.
  • Wait for this to dry fully to prevent smudging, when the top coat is applied. And that's it ¡Ya está! (and that is your proper spanish, well according to google translate it is) (Translation: You're Done!!)

Silence Marks
Okay so next up is the Silence Marks. If you've seen Series 6 Episodes 1 and 2 (The Impossible Astronaut and Day of The Moon) then you'll then you will recognise these instantly. If not, then there is only one way to explain it, in these two episodes the Doctor, Amy, Rory and River are up against some pretty strange Aliens, that call them selves the Silence (Until we find out later on in the series the The Silence is an Order *SPOILERS*). The Silence have this nifty little trick that only let's you remember them when you see them, so when you look away you forget all about them. The Doctor came up with a plan to draw a little tally-like mark on your arm, when you see a Silence, therefore proving that you have seen one. Hope this has cleared so confusion up :)

The Silence Marks Nail Art, Possibly the easiest one out of all the Nail art
What You Will Need:
  • A Base Coat and a Top Coat (Base Coat:I used Collection 2000's Nail Care, Nail Bright and instant whitener for a natural finish, Top Coat: I used Miss Sporty's Disco Tech Nail Polish)
  • Black Nail Polish ( I used Miss Sporty's Lasting Colour Nail Polish in Fatal Black)
  • White Nail Polish (I used Color Workshop's Nail Polish In French White)
  • A Nail Dotting Tool or a Cocktail Stick.

A Closer look at the Silence Marks Nail Art
 How To:
  • Okay so this particular nail art, is easy-peasy. As usual apply a base coat to prevent, staining your nails and to keep them healthly, strong and well looked after.
  • Now apply a white nail polish (skintoned colour nail polish work well for this aswell) to the whole nail. You may need to use two coats, to get a nice opaque colour.
  • Take a black nail polish and apply a small amount to your work surface or piece of plain paper. Then take a small nail dotting tool and begin creating the tally-like marks on your nail.
  • Apply a Top coat when the Nail polish is fully dry, so that your design doesn't smudge and You're Done!!! Yep it's a simple and Easy as that :) .
The Vortex
The vortex is something that you see during the opening title of each episode of Doctor Who, it changes from a mix of blues and purples, to oranges, yellows and greens. So with this next tutorial, I've added elements of both and added a bit  of glitter as well (you can never have too much Glitter).

The Vortex Nail Art possibly the most technical out of all of the tutorials

What You Will Need:
  • A Base Coat and a Top Coat (Base Coat:I used Collection 2000's Nail Care, Nail Bright and instant whitener for a natural finish, Top Coat: I used Miss Sporty's Disco Tech Nail Polish)
  • Red Nail Polish (I used Rimmel London's 60 Seconds Nail Polish in Red Carpet)
  • Blue Nail Polish ( I used Rimmel London's I ♥ Lasting Finish Nail Polish in Azure)
  • Yellow Nail Polish (I used Collection 2000s Hot Looks Fast Dry Nail Polish in Lemon Soda)
  • Orange Nail Polish (I used Rimmel London's I ♥ Lasting Finish Nail Polish in Orange Ur Life)
  • White Nail Polish (I used Color Workshop's Nail Polish In French White)
  • Glitter Nail Polish ( I used ChitChat's Glitter Nail Polish in Violet)
  • A Cosmetic or Foundation Sponge and some Scissors.
A Closer look at the Nail Art
How To:
  • Okay so with this being the most technical tutorial of them all, its gonna have a lot of steps so here goes. Apply a base coat to prevent your nails from getting stained and to keep them strong and healthly.
  • Next apply a white nail polish, to make sure you get that nice opaque colour apply two coats.
  • Here is where it gets kinda technical, take your cosmetic or foundation sponge and carefully cut a small piece off (otherwise you'll end up wasting a perfectly good sponge). Take a Blue Nail polish and apply a small amout to your work surface or sheet of paper. Dab the sponge into the nail polish and then dab the sponge on to the work surface to remove any excess. Now randomly apply the polish on the sponge to your nail (do this with a light hand to create a nice effect).
  • Repeat the last step, applying the Red, then Orange, then Yellow and if you want to apply a little bit of blue again (you can use the same sponge, there's no need to waste a whole one).
  • This step is optional, you can leave the nail as it is, or take a purple or blue glitter nail polish and apply this over the nail.
  • Wait for all that to dry fully, before applying your top coat. The Top coat helps to seal the design and prevent it from chipping. And that's it your done!! (okay so that took less steps than i thought).
The Final Look :)

And there you have it, your Doctor Who Nails/Individual Nails are complete, now you can go helping the Doctor save the world from those pesky Aliens. Okay maybe not, but we can dream right?
